I spent my childhood in a village named Katari, now in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) near Lucknow and studied in the schools and college in the vicinity. The rural life offered me interesting interface with nature and people around. My younger days were full of stories, characters, events, friends, emotions and unique situations. I recall that the freedom and fun with nature drove my sensitivity towards expressing me through letters. This is why I started writing poetry during my college days.

I read almost all important books of Hindi literature at that very tender age. Later when I moved to higher studies at Allahabad University and Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, my writer also got maturity.

I kept writing poetry but ghazals and stories came a little later. But when they came, they came in full swing. The rural boy had totally contrasting experiences in cities and metros like Delhi. All this nurtured my writer.
